Seeing that people were accustomed to holding several horses within their outbuildings they believed that this idea could possibly be applied to cars. These complexes looked almost identical to present day car parks, with some private and a few publically owned. This was a very good business, however after 1910 there were too many cars to be housed this way.
The 1st private garage idea
The initial idea to have an individual garage was dreamed up in 1912. As car sales increased and grew to become much more common place, society required somewhere to store them and so the garage was born. It was initially known as another form of outbuilding and cars were stored alongside horses and carriages.
